The 2001 Woodside Challenge Cup
A benefit to raise funds for The National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy (NCEFT), was held September 22 at the CETA grounds. Four good-natured 49er football players and 49er associates rode in the event and several more worked as referees, announcers and ground crew. Other riders in the event were from the Los Altos Hounds (last year's cup winners), the "Blazing Saddles" (two of our local sportscasters), the American Medical Response team, The San Mateo Mounted Patrol, and the SMC Sheriff's Mounted Enforcement Unit, with special demonstrations by members of the Pony Club and by a very special NCEFT participant, Aidan. The benefit raised $9,000 for the NCEFT program, headquartered in Woodside, CA.
